The ATI Neurostimulation System is designed to deliver low level stimulation therapy to a nerve bundle called the sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG). Everyone has two SPGs, located deep in the face behind the back of the nose. The SPG has been shown to play an important role in severe headache pain. The miniaturized Neurostimulator¹ (about the size of an almond) is implanted through a small incision in the gum above the second molar, and is positioned close to the SPG on the same side as the headache pain. The procedure leaves no external scars or cosmetic effects. The patient is then able to control his/her own stimulation therapy as needed by placing a small handheld device (the Remote Controller²) on the cheek over the implanted Neurostimulator. When the patient no longer desires stimulation, the Remote Controller is simply removed from the cheek, turning off stimulation therapy.
CAUTION:
Investigational device. Limited by Federal (or United States) law to investigational use.
